Pastoral Care

The old spiritual predicts that “the body grows weak, the spirit grows numb.” Personally, I’ve never found that to be the case among the vest majority of our residents here at the Masonic Care Community. Just as our Medical Staff, Activities and Therapy Departments work to keep our residents’ bodies and minds functioning to their highest level, so we look for ways and means to keep the their spirits alive, strong and growing.

A full-time Chaplain provides a multitude of worship, Bible study and praise opportunities, as well as individual pastoral care and counsel, as we aim to keep those who live here informed, inspired and involved. Families and friend are invited, and welcome, to join in both the weekly schedule of religious activities and the special occasion events such as the Candle-light Christmas Eve Worship and Maundy Thursday Communion Services.

Our Tompkins Chapel has been used as an appropriate place for residents’ families to gather for baptisms, weddings, and funerals thus assuring their loved ones’ involvement and attendance. Adjunct Jewish and Roman Catholic Chaplains broaden both the substance, and the scope, of religious services offered.
